Prevention

Meeting communities where they are with prevention, education, and support.

At PALSS, our Prevention Team provides community-based outreach focused on reducing HIV transmission, increasing access to prevention tools, and connecting individuals to supportive services. We engage communities with education, resources, and relationship-building meeting people where they are and responding to real-world needs with compassion and respect.

What Our Outreach Includes

PALSS Prevention Team outreach offers a comprehensive approach to HIV and sexual health prevention. Our services include PrEP outreach and education, helping individuals understand PrEP, explore whether it’s right for them, and connect to PALSS PrEP services. We also provide condom distribution and safer-sex supplies to support healthier choices and reduce risk. Outreach often includes prevention education, risk-reduction conversations, and navigation support that helps people move from information to action.

Workshops and Demonstrations

In addition to direct outreach, PALSS offers interactive workshops and demonstrations tailored to community needs. These sessions may include sexual health education, HIV and STI prevention workshops, PrEP education sessions, condom and safer-sex demonstrations, and discussions focused on reducing stigma and increasing health literacy. Workshops are designed to be engaging, culturally responsive, and appropriate for a variety of settings, including schools, colleges, workplaces, churches, and community organizations.

PrEP Outreach and Navigation

PrEP is a key part of PALSS’ prevention strategy. Through outreach events, workshops, and one-on-one conversations, our Prevention Team provides accurate information about PrEP, addresses common myths, and supports individuals in taking next steps. We connect people directly to PALSS PrEP services and help them navigate appointments, insurance, and medication access in a respectful, no-pressure environment.

Condom Distribution and Safer-Sex Resources

PALSS believes prevention tools should be easy to access and free of stigma. Our outreach includes widespread condom distribution and safer-sex resources, along with education and demonstrations that help individuals use prevention tools correctly and confidently. These efforts support informed decision-making and encourage routine testing and prevention planning.

Community and Campus-Based Outreach

PALSS Prevention Team outreach takes place across the Midlands and surrounding areas through partnerships with colleges, universities, and community organizations. We support health fairs, awareness events, campus programming, and community gatherings with education, supplies, workshops, and direct connections to PALSS services. Our collaborative approach helps ensure outreach is relevant, effective, and impactful.
